Walnut Valley Festival, Winfield, Kansas
September 1519, 2010

Award-winning multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, Steve Eulberg, weaves mountain and hammered dulcimers with guitar, percussion, keyboard and a variety of unusual instruments to create thought-provoking, smile-inducing, toe-tapping acoustic experiences. He has sung and composed for religious communities, union halls, picket lines, inter-faith retreats, mountain-top youth camps, as well as the more familiar venues: clubs, coffeehouses, bookstores, festivals and showcase concerts. He has composed commissions for choral work and symphonic works featuring dulcimers and Australian didjeridu.
An Ohioan by birth and of Anglo-Celtic and German Heritage, he is a member of Local 1000 AFM who passionately believes that music builds community across cultural barriers. His innercity work with African-American, Latino and working-class folks has been an important crucible for his artistry.
He has been influenced by the fiddlers of his youth, the Americana of Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, the contemporary artistry of John McCutcheon, Kim McKee, Tom Paxton, Karen Mueller, Bryan Bowers, Susan Trump and Heidi Muller, the blues power of B.B. King, Lightning Hopkins and Robert Johnson. Eulberg has won four prizes in the National Mountain Dulcimer Championship and three times has been a finalist in the National Hammered Dulcimer Championship in Winfield, Kansas.
