There are things in American music that really celebrate America’s diversity, and one of those things is the relationship between black and white traditional music. While most people think of blues as a modern urban style of music dominated by electric guitars, blues and gospel music, like bluegrass are rooted in southern acoustic music. This workshop is designed to highlight both the differences and similarities that exist between these essential styles of American music. We will explore how key creators of American acoustic music developed a musical language that is common to these iconic styles.
